All Indians and politicians should bow their heads in shame that they remained impotent while they saw their Mother India violated.
This is the second time it has happened and still we learn nothing. The first time Draupadi was attacked we had Lord Krishna to protect her. This time our ruling class held Lord Krishna (in the guise of security personnel) waiting for the order to be given so that NSG could go. If the Prime Minister was totally impotent then what happened to Mr Advani? Do not tell me that his phone was not working and he did not have the telephone number of any network? That says a lot about his organisation who say that they are 34 carat Indians and everybody else is not good enough to be in the same category. I, being a NRI, am probably less than one carat Indian.
We Indians sing a lot about Mother India and how we shall do our utmost to protect her. But when the call comes to help her we pretend not to know or more likely run away from accepting responsibility. Let us face the truth and admit that we are just selfish. We say lots of things because they are politically correct and makes us look good and virtuous but realilty is always different.
I know we have a lot of baggage from history that makes it easy to blame our plight on invaders who took advantage of us and kept us down and humiliated us. Blame the Muslims. Blame the British. I admit that they did things which were bad and unspeakable. But we have been ruling ourselves since 1947. Other countries have picked themselves up and can look the world straight in eye and have the selfconfidence to make their own decisions, whether or not, it suits the rest of the world.
We have started to believe in our own Public Relations and forgot the basic truth that in reality our security apparatus is in the same state as our infrastructure. We have been deluding ourselves in believing that we are on our way to being a Superpower India and along with China and there is no stopping come what may.
The first duty of any sovereign Government is to protect its citizens. Whether they happen to be Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jews, Parsis, Jains, Buddists or any other great religions. They are Indian citizens first and foremost. There should be no differentiation among them on creed, race, class, language, regional or any other basis. The rest is bigotry and nothing else.
Not since 1962, when China attacked, India has been so traumatised that it is looking for real leadership which can make Indians feel proud and say that nobody should have the guts to attack India again, never mind thinking or planning about it. Since 1962 our heros in the armed services have always given their best whenever they were call to duty. This only happened because we made the necesary decisions to bring our military up to speed.
How can we blame Pakistan or any other neighbour when our own house is not united? Ghar ka bhedhi Lanka dhay. When we have no unity, only then others who do not wish us well, will naturally exploit the situation in their favour. You can not expect a scorpion not to attack you just because you are so nice to them. It is a law of nature. You or anybody can not wish it away. We need to start with a clean sheet and become Devil's Advocate and analyse our weakness and make the resources available to eliminate those weaknesses. It will not stop any future attacks but their impact will be minimal. The risk/reward curve will be in India's favour.
Is it not ironic that India has the best educated people on the planet and they by being selfish are either not demanding enough from their politicians or don't care who is in power and what they are doing for the country and not for them individually. I am not saying that it is wrong to be selfish. One can not live on ideas alone, one has to pay the bills and buy the food and other things which are necessary for a modern day living. This is human nature and nobody can change that. In fact, United States of America is built on enterprise and being selfish and most important being American. Americans are the most patriotic people on Earth.
We blame the politicians but we conveniently forget that it was our vote or the lack of it which put them into power. People always get the politicians they deserve. If you pick donkeys then don't expect horses. Come to think of it, the politicians are blamed for all these mistakes, which is right, but when did any intelligent person thought of going into politics rather than a well paid government job or a highly respectable private one.
If you don't have intelligent people running for office then don't expect rational decisions. I know lot of you will say that Dr Manmohan Singh is an intellectual person. Nobody can argue with that. But he is more suited for college then running a country. He knows that his real boss is Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Who is more interested in pushing his son or any other member of her family because she has too much to lose.
Mrs Gandhi is acting no different to any company owner who makes his idiot son the CEO of his company. When asked why he is doing it as the son is ruining the company. His reply is that he will shape up given time after all he my son, moreover who else will hire him if not me.
Mr L.K. Advani acts like a man who is so full of arrogance that he loves the sound of his own voice, anything else is clutter. He is a 34 carat Indian, who can argue with that?
All these people are yesterday's people. We need people of action who will no doubt will make mistakes but will do things with passion and determination to get India moving forward to its rightful place in the world. Surely, if these people can organise demonstrations they they can organise anything.
By improving the infrastructure and the security of India is conducive to producing the condition which will benefit all its citizens in more ways then it imaginable.
This attack on Mumbai should act as a wake up call so that no country, no person, terrorist or not, will dare to even think that India is a soft target and go for it.
Surely, a country of Billion plus people, the majority of being less than 35 years of age can change India for a better place. If they can not do it then nobody can? All they need is a bit of selfconfidence which has taken a hit but never mind we can take it as we are all Indians. One thing which is going for India is that every NRI and the world is full of goodwill towards India.
Please don't let them down. India knows it can do it and it will. There is lot to do and very little time to do it in. The spotlight of the world is on India.
Let us all get to work.
Jai Hind.
